German scientists have confirmed through research that the concentration of negative oxygen ions in the human living environment is directly related to the level of human health. In Professor Lin Jinming's book "Environment, Health, and Negative Oxygen Ions", it is mentioned that negative oxygen ions below 800 are harmful to human health, such as inducing physiological disorders, air conditioning diseases, headaches, insomnia, respiratory diseases, and other problems.
1. Basic concepts
(1) Negatively charged microscopic particles (negatively charged particles) are all called negatively charged particles, including: electrons themselves, material anions or anionic groups (such as Cl -, NO3-, CO3-, etc.), molecules that bind electrons (such as negative oxygen ions), molecules that adsorb electrons (such as water molecules that adsorb electrons), and certain radioactive particles. These negatively charged particles will all have data on the negative ion detector, but among all these negatively charged particles, only negative oxygen ions are beneficial to the human body.
(2) Negative oxygen ions have electrons with certain energy that combine with oxygen molecules to form negatively charged ions, called negative oxygen ions (O2-). The process is expressed by the chemical formula as follows. Oxygen molecules can sometimes form ozone molecules when they come into contact with high-energy electrons. E -+O2=O2- (3) Air anions Air will generate free electrons of certain energy under specific conditions, which combine with air molecules to form negatively charged ions, known as air anions. The composition of air is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 0.94% inert gas, 0.03% carbon dioxide, and 0.03% water vapor and other gases. The molecules that are easily bound to free electrons are oxygen and carbon dioxide, with the latter being very rare. Therefore, when people talk about negative ions in the air, they also refer to negative oxygen ions in the air (although not strictly defined). When there is water vapor, some negative oxygen ions may also exist in the form of hydration. Positive and negative ions coexist in the air. If the concentration of positive ions is too high, people may experience symptoms such as insomnia, headaches, irritability, and elevated blood pressure. In a clean atmosphere, air negative ions can survive for more than ten seconds, but in heavily polluted air, their lifespan is very short, only a few seconds. Negative oxygen ions in air have a small radius and a high migration speed, making them the most effective part of air negative ions for the human body.
2. The importance of negative oxygen ions to human health. Negative oxygen ions in the air play a crucial role in the life and well-being of organisms. Negative ions are small negative ions with a mobility greater than 0.4 cm2/(V × s) that can enter the body and exhibit good biological activity. It is referred to as "longevity hormone" and "air vitamin" by the medical community.
(1) Provide lung capacity and improve respiratory function. When people inhale negative oxygen ion air into the human respiratory tract, it relaxes the smooth muscles of the bronchi, increases the amount of oxygen in the lungs, thereby improving respiratory capacity and enhancing cardiovascular function.
(2) Adjust blood lipids and blood pressure to improve heart function. Negative oxygen ions can slow down the sedimentation rate of red blood cells, prolong coagulation time, increase red blood cell and blood calcium content, and decrease white blood cells, blood calcium, and blood sugar. By adjusting the function of the cerebral cortex, cholesterol can be reduced, arterial spasm can be relieved, and heart function and myocardial nutrition can be improved.
(3) Enhance immunity and kill tumor cells. Negative oxygen ions can neutralize positive ions, enhance immunity, or directly enter immune cells to improve immunity, thereby killing tumor cells.
(4) Antibacterial and bacteriostatic effects: Negative oxygen ions have strong reducing effects and inhibit enzyme activity. Promote the phagocytic ability of white blood cells, inhibit and kill bacteria, and promote the resolution of inflammation.
(5) Improving sleep quality, antidepressant research shows that it is easier to fall asleep in rooms with negative oxygen ions. Negative oxygen ions can activate β - endorphins, stabilize the autonomic nervous system, control the sympathetic nervous system, prevent neurasthenia, and improve sleep quality; At the same time, it provides more oxygen to the brain, making people feel comfortable both physically and mentally, and effectively combating depression.
(6) Research on improving learning ability shows that in a space filled with negative oxygen ions, people's cognitive level and learning ability are significantly enhanced.
And so far, no side effects have been found in all relevant studies.
